power of the momentum - simplicity to go - Andre Schütz

Why the momentum is so powerful

We are often distracted and try to do many things in parallel. In doing so, we often do not notice that we are only sabotaging ourselves.

While we are still working on the current task, we are already thinking about the coming ones. We hardly take the time to think through and finish our current activity. After all, the next challenges are already waiting for us.

This is terrible. This is absolutely wrong.

We are not living in the here and now, but in an imaginary future.

But.

Being in the here and now is one of the most powerful tools that we have. It is called – the momentum.

What is the momentum

The momentum is a period of time which seems to be the perfect moment to focus your energy to achieve your aims.

What?

Yeah, sounds a little bit funny.

Consider the momentum as a moment in time when your continuing actions seem to be successful. Each of them.

It is just the right time to get into action. To concentrate and just work on your aims.

The momentum seems to be on your side.

But how do we now, that the right moment is happening to us?

When starts the momentum

If I would know, I would tell you.

But.

How can we create our momentum?

That is the right question.

We can create our own momentum by getting into action and creating possibilities that influence our present and future.

That means – we have to work and focus on the aims that are important for us. Nobody else will do this. Nobody else will come and work for us.

We have to start.

Keep in mind. To create chances and getting the momentum, we have to focus on our aims and improve our actions to reach them.

Example: If you want to become a great writer and getting an agency contract, you have to write. You have to read, you have to improve your writing style and you have to connect yourself with people out of this genre. There is no shortcut besides focus and work.

Positive aspects of the momentum

Some positive aspects of having the momentum are:

  • We are spending less energy in blaming past chances or uncertain future situations. Our current focus is in our aims and our work on them.
  • We can finish our current tasks even faster. Therefore, we gain time to relax and regain our energy.
  • Negative aspects of coming events are not in our current attention. We will solve them, when they occur. Not earlier.
  • The quality of our outcome will be much higher when we are concentrated and in the flow of our current task.
  • We ARE MOTIVATED.

But.

There is always a “But”.

Make a plan

People often think, that they have not to plan the future or the present. Yes, that is possible, but less productive.

Making a plan reduces the stress and time when we want to start the next task. We already have an idea what we have to do and where we want to start. Perfect preconditions.

Therefore, we should:

  • Plan roughly all the tasks that are far in the future. At least make a note.
  • The nearer the tasks appear, the clearer your plan should be. Try to make a rough list of steps that you have to execute. And describe all necessary actions that have to be executed before the task starts.
  • If it is in the now, the plan should be absolutely detailed and every step should be clear. That does not mean, that your plan can not be changed, but you can be confident, that you know how to start and continue.

Now it is your turn.

Get your momentum.

See ya.
