How did it start?
With an idea!
“Simplicity is one way to simplify our life and make it more sustainable by better ideas, habits and solutions.”
Andre Schütz
This became a passion. The passion to talk about such ideas, adapt them to my own life and inspiring others.
But what about a definition?
Most people want to hear a definition, but that would mean, we restrict us to one view of simplicity. Therefore, it is much more helpful to determine the essential ideas of simplicity or a life of simplicity:
- The process of discovering new tools and ideas to simplify our life is motivating and creates enthusiasm.
- Simplicity never ends, it is a process that is always in motion and adapts themselves by new ideas and improvements.
- Lifelong learning is the basis of simplicity to improve the own habits, skills and experiences.
- By mastering simplicity, we stay in a (mostly) continuing level of balance that improves and preserves our physical and mental healthiness.
This zone of balance is equal to a simple life and is in between a careless or a too restricted life. We try to avoid the extremes as often as possible.
Why does this matter?
Life gets more and more complex and this complexity requires a lot of effort to stay healthy and relaxed. If we go with that game of complexity, we will hustle without a limit.
What do we need?
About Andre Schütz
I was born in 1981 in the city of Rostock. This is located on the Baltic Sea in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, which is a part of Germany.
After school, I finished my studies at the university of Rostock (2007), started as software engineer and founded my own software company (in 2012) which won some prices for their creative software solutions.
Besides sport, writing books and automating repeating tasks, I always was interested in psychology and the ideas of different lifestyles. Over the years, I realized that starting more and more projects and hobbies was not the best way to reach what I hoped to reach.
The solution was to find out, what really was important to me and brought value to my life.
Therefore, it was a luck for me, that I tried so many different things in the past. That helped me to determine what really is important for me and brings joy to my life.
Moreover, with the birth of my children, I wanted to as much time as possible for them besides my job (which I love) and my hobbies (for which I feel a lot of passion).
This was a great moment to rethink my projects and determine what is most important for me. Therefore, I concentrate myself on writing books, having a healthy life, creating awesome software and finding my definition of a simple life.
What is “simplicity to go”?
It has nothing to do with a cup of coffee. Not completely.
Even though I love coffee (half coffee/half milk).
But let me explain.
The two parts “simplicity” and “to go” have their own meanings for me.
What simplicity means, I described at “What is simplicity?“. There you find my idea behind it and how our “balance” is affected by a simple life.
The “to go” describes the process which is connected to this kind of lifestyle.
One the one hand, it should be an everyday tool that we have with us and use wherever we are. Your swiss army knife without the physical tool.
On the other hand, it expresses an iterative process which is always in motion and gets adapted over time. Like we evolve, also our personal definition of simplicity evolves.
